Wix Tutorial: From Signup to Launch

Beginner-friendly Wix tutorial: sign up, pick a template, edit pages, set up SEO, connect a domain and publish — the complete workflow.

This tutorial walks you from zero to a live website in about 30 minutes. No coding knowledge needed.

Step 1: Create an Account (2 min)

Go to Wix and sign up with email, Google or Facebook. Answer the onboarding questions honestly — they shape your template recommendations.

Step 2: Choose Your Path

Wix offers two routes:

  • AI builder: answer a few questions and get a complete draft — best if you have no clear picture yet;
  • Pick a template: browse the library manually — best if you know what you want.

When in doubt, use the AI builder. You can overhaul everything in the editor afterward.

Step 3: Edit Your Pages (15-20 min)

The left panel is your toolbox. Core moves:

  1. Replace text: double-click any text to edit;
  2. Replace images: click an image → Change Image — upload your own or use Wix's free stock library;
  3. Add/remove sections: use the "+" on section edges to add blocks (About, Services, Testimonials…);
  4. Add pages: "Menus & Pages" → "Add Page" — the classics are About, Services, Contact;
  5. Set up a contact form so visitors can reach you directly.

Step 4: Check Mobile (5 min)

Click the phone icon at the top of the editor. Look for overflowing text, tiny buttons and distorted images. Wix auto-adapts layouts, but manual tweaks polish the result.

Step 5: Basic SEO

For every page set: a title with your main keyword, a ~120-character description, and a clean URL. Then run the SEO checklist under "Marketing & SEO" and fix what it flags. Details in the Wix SEO guide.

Step 6: Publish & Connect a Domain

Hit "Publish" — the free plan gives you a xxx.wixsite.com address. To connect your own domain (yourbrand.com), upgrade to a paid plan, then follow the domain wizard to point your DNS. It usually resolves within 24 hours.

Three Things to Do After Launch

  • Submit your site to Google Search Console and Bing Webmaster Tools;
  • Set up analytics (Wix has built-in reports; Google Analytics works too);
  • Add fresh content every couple of weeks — consistent updates noticeably help rankings.
